New services and summer times for Arona beaches
Arona council has launched the new summer hours on its beaches by enabling two new bathing points with lifeguard service: Las Galletas and La Arenita (Palm-Mar) beaches, to which two rescuers are incorporated in each.
Likewise, the number of lifeguards on Los Cristianos beach
is also increasing. These last two, in particular, carrying out the tasks of
the recently launched assisted bathroom for people with reduced mobility.
Of these new workers, one comes from the recently completed
PFAE-GJ Socorrismo programme, while the remaining five are from the middle
cycle of IES Los Cristianos.
In this way, and to adapt to the summer season, the hours of
public spaces on the coast are now from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., to which a new
modification is added: the change of the layout of the volleyball court in Las
Views from the central area to one side, so that there is more space available
for the use of the beach complying with the capacity.
All these additions allow the municipality to have extra
spaces for bathing and reinforce the safety of residents and visitors, in
addition to an increase in the provision of services such as assisted bathing
for people with mobility problems, which is not only provided in Las Vistas,
but also on the beach of Los Cristianos.
Councillor for beaches, Leopoldo Díaz Oda, said: “The
increase in these services, the reinforcement of security, the increase in
bathing areas or the new assisted service on the beaches are the result of
continued work by part of dozens of people who work to maintain the excellence
of Arona as a tourist destination, especially in this time of pandemic and
And tourism councillor, José Alberto Delgado, added:
“Arona makes an effort to offer and to position itself internationally as an
accessible destination, as one of its pillars, and safe for those who visit us,
with the fulfillment capacity or increased security in all bathing areas,
bathing areas that are also being expanded, despite the collective effort that
this entails ”.
