Tourism hotspots in Tenerife to get multi-million euro facelifts 

The Ministry of Tourism, Industry and Commerce of the Government of the Canary Islands to carry out a total of 21 actions in 17 municipalities of Tenerife with a joint investment amounting to 6.5 million euros.

The objective of these works is to regenerate urban spaces,
improve competitiveness and reinvent the tourism product, adapting to the
changes and needs of the destination.

The Department headed by Yaiza Castilla will allocate,
through the General Directorate of Tourism Infrastructure, five direct grants
to the Cabildo de Tenerife, charged to the agreement signed with the Secretary
of State for Tourism and which are already in the bidding process, such as the
conditioning of access to Playa de Lima, in Arafo, for an amount of 202,573
euros; conditioning of the access path to Playita del Roque, in Candelaria, for
262,849 euros; remodeling of the coastal edge of Playa de las Caletillas, in
Candelaria, with a budget of 571,539 euros; conditioning of the Paseo
Graciliano Ruíz Rodríguez y Semidán, in Candelaria, for 455,571 euros; and the
improvement and conditioning of the access to Caleta del Andén in Garachico,
for an amount of 129,092 euros.

On the other hand, Turismo de Canarias will carry out three
actions directly, entrusted to the public company Gestur, with work already started,
such as the Punta Brava Litoral Park, in Playa Martiánez in Puerto de la Cruz,
with an investment of 400,000 euros; the completion and expansion of the
Botanical Garden (Phase IV), in La Orotava, Puerto de la Cruz, with a budget of
125,000 euros; and the recovery of Playa de San Marcos, in Icod de Los Vinos,
for an amount of 1,000,000 euros (pending from the General Directorate of
Coasts and the Marine Environment).

Also in the section on subsidies, the Ministry allocates
this year to the Puerto de la Cruz Consortium a total of 250,000 euros.

The rest of the budget is distributed directly to different
municipalities in the form of direct subsidies for the development of different
newly created projects, such as the Vieja Escuela de la Zarza tourist hostel,
in Fasnia, for the amount of 110,000 euros; the adaptation of the Playa de San
Salvador, in San Miguel de Abona, for an amount of 600,000 euros; the reform of
the Casa Dean Calzadilla, in La Victoria, for an amount of 200,000 euros; the
adaptation of several streets in the Los Gigantes Cliffs, in Santiago del
Teide, for an amount of 600,000 euros; the completion of the El Drago
Interpretation Centre, in Icod de Los Vinos, for an amount of 400,000 euros
(last phase); the performance in the Plaza de las Cucharas to equip it with a
multipurpose multi-service room, in La Guancha, worth 200,000 euros; the
adaptation of the house in El Llano and surrounding areas, in Los Realejos, for
an amount of 175,404 euros; the recovery of the Las Aguas coastline, in San
Juan de la Rambla, for 500,000 euros; project ‘Santa Úrsula Para Comérsela’, in
Santa Úrsula, for 87,867 euros, and the improvement of urbanisation and
services in La Caleta, in Arico for 250,000 euros.
