Is it a UFO? It is a hat? Strange cloud hangs over Tenerife’s famous volcano as storm Barbara hits Canary Islands
This stunning picture shows how strange weather conditions on the holiday island of Tenerife gave the illusion of a HAT on top of its famous volcano.
The weather agency AEMET published the image
of the lenticular cloud hanging over Mount Teide which on previous occasions,
has convinced many people that UFOs were invading!
The phenomena was caused by the arrival of
Storm Barbara which brought heavy rain and strong gusts of wind to the islands.
The saying goes that when the volcano wears a
hat, bad weather conditions are on the way. But those who believe in extra
terrestrials like to tell a different story which has always linked Mount Teide
to something more sinister.
The cloud was visible from all parts of
Tenerife as well as from the air and the other islands in the group.
The Izaña Atmospheric Research Centre of AEMET
tweeted: “The strong winds that blow on the peaks of #Tenerife have
contributed to the formation of the hat that #Teide wears.”
Mount Teide is the highest summit in Spain, rising
to 3,718 metres.
There have been numerous UFO sightings over the
volcano and even pilots have reported seeing strange objects in the sky
