People can apply for local education grants from Monday August 3rd

The Adeje education department can offer assistance in school books and materials and transport for students at all levels

Adeje council’s Department of Education, under councillor María
Clavijo Maza, has announced details of this year’s grant subsidies. The public
can apply for assistance in person from August 3 until October 5th
2020.

For students in Infants, Primary, Secondary, Vocational,
Training and Bachillerato courses there will be €100,000 available in total. A
further €100,000 is allocated for school transport and for students going to
study at third level the council has set aside €150,000.  “With these
initiatives families can apply for grants that are available quite quickly so
that students can continue with their studies, more important than ever in
these times”, said the councillor.

The regulations for applications are on the Adeje webpage, www.adeje.es, and can be presented digitally or
in person.  Applicants must complete the forms and present all the
relevant paperwork.  To apply in person to the offices, behind the Adeje
cultural centre, Mondays to Fridays from 9am – 2pm, a prior appointment is
essential. Appointments can be made online, www.adeje.es
or by phone, 922 756243.

For students in education up to Bachillerato the grants are
available for school materials and tools needed to allow the student access
education online in the 2020-2021 academic year. The council also allocate
money to pay for transport for those students in certain centres who don’t
automatically qualify for that funded by the regional department of education.

For students studying at university or vocational institutes,
the grants will assist in paying for transport, accommodation, books, and the
cost of some courses.
