New leisure area and parking for Guargacho
Arona council has acquired a plot in the centre of Guargacho, which due to its characteristics almost completely lacks public spaces, to provide this area with a large leisure and parking space with an area of almost 16,000 square metres.
“Settled almost entirely on rustic land, at least in
the area that corresponds to Arona, Guargacho has been one of the most
forgotten nuclei of the municipality, with an enormous shortage of spaces and
public facilities, which makes the quality of life more complex of its
inhabitants –around 2,200-, a situation that the enormous delay in planning
adapted to reality has only worsened,” said a council spokesman.
“The town does not have enough parking, in the same way
that it does not have green and leisure spaces in adequate conditions, a
situation that is intended to alleviate with the launch of what will be the
first urban park in this area thanks to the acquisition of a large parcel,
which has been completed in recent days.”
With an area of 15,772 square metres and an investment of
174,000 euros, the land is located in the lower area of Guargacho, the
natural place of expansion of this population, all with the intention of
providing this nucleus with its first public space.
The project, which will be launched after the acquisition
has already been approved, contemplates the creation of an important parking
area, with dozens of spaces, a large urban park and a multi-sports area.
The car parks will coexist, in this way, with a garden area,
fountain, shaded area, urban furniture, a children’s playground, bio-health
devices, petanque for the elderly and sports fields, among other uses.
