Authorities to evict illegal settlers in La Caleta 

IllegaL settlements spoiling beauty  spots in La Caleta are to be evicted, it has been confirmed.

Tenerife Cabildo, through the natural environment and
security management department, led by Isabel García Hernández, took part in a
meeting attended by representatives of Adeje council, the Government of the
Canary Islands and the Government Subdelegation, to design the joint protocol
that will be applied in the eviction of illegal settlements in the Site of
Scientific Interest of La Caleta de Adeje, in the southern municipality.

“Next week,” said Isabel García Hernández
“members of the Civil Guard, personnel from the provincial demarcation of
Coasts and environmental agents will begin to formally document the specific
places and the number of people who are settled in the vicinity of the beach to
initiate administrative procedures. In addition, surveillance routines will be
established afterwards by the bodies and state security forces so that this
situation does not occur again in the future. ”

“We establish joint lines of work, we are looking for a
solution as urgent as possible to solve this problem, which is neither new nor
the responsibility of a single administration, and that is why we have to do it
in a coordinated manner, therefore the work will begin imminently.”

“We are facing a problem of considerable dimensions, and
from the Natural Environment department, we work to restore all that
environment in accordance with its protection. We are sure that all the
institutions will make every effort to ensure that environmental values ​​are
respected and that these people can leave this environment safely, and
definitively .”
