Busy day as Plaza de El Médano welcomes back its market

The Plaza de El Médano welcomed the reopening of the ‘Mercado en la calle’ initiative on Wednesday, May 20, through which the products grown by the municipality’s farmers are offered and are usually sold every weekend in the Farmer’s Market facilities.

The initiative, which had been suspended since last March
14, has been launched again, through the Department of the Primary Sector, led
byYanira González, and on Thursdays it will also be in the plaza Ramón y Cajal
in Granadilla from 8am to 2pm.

Yanira González points out that on this first day, after the
break of a little more than two months, there has been very good acceptance by
the citizenrs and encourages the population to approach and consume the local
product, “since it is time to support local trade and above all bet on the
primary sector, which is an alternative for the economy of many families from
Granada dedicated to this activity and that offers us a wide variety of fresh
products, directly from the field to the table.”

The opening has been carried out with all the established
health and safety conditions, such as fencing and access control, as well as
the need to maintain the corresponding distance between the sellers and
customers. At the same time, the manipulation of the merchandise by the users
is prohibited, and the use of the disinfectant gel will be established as a
mandatory measure by the people who access the premises to buy.

Both the Farmer’s Market in San Isidro and the Lonja
Pesquera de los Abrigos have continued to carry out their commercial activities
during the state of alarm. The Market opens every weekend from 8am to 2pm.,
respecting all safety and hygiene measures and carrying out a disinfection
process, as established by the municipal decree of March 14. La Lonja continues
with its usual schedule from Tuesday to Sunday from 9am to 2pm., also making
home deliveries.
