Arona announces list of suspended events until end of September

Arona has now suspended all of its festivities until at least the end of September due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The decision had already been taken to cancel all events in
May as previously announced but this time period has now been extended.

“The situation generated by the coronavirus pandemic,
which has led to a State of Emergency and an almost total paralysis of
activity, has led Arona council, together with the different party commissions
from all the nuclei, to announce maintaining the suspension of recreational and
leisure activities, at least, until the end of September, whatever the evolution
of the order decreed by the State Government,” said a spokesperson.

“This measure is adopted, both due to the
organisational difficulties that such a situation entails, as well as the need
to guarantee the health conditions of all citizens as much as possible.”

Councillor of the fiestas department, Pura Martín, said:
“This decision has been made with the agreement of the different party
commissions in view of the need we have to give the maximum possible health
guarantees to our residents, as well as due to the difficulties which involves
organising the festivities of the different nuclei in a situation of practical
paralysis of productive activity, which greatly complicates their development,
both now and in the coming months. “
