Third death from coronavirus in the Canaries
A 37-year-old woman has become the third person to die from coronavirus in the Canary Islands.
She died on Tuesday at the University Hospital of Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria. She was already suffering from serious pathologies,so she was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit.
This third death in the Canary Islands is pending confirmation by the Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands, which will offer official data throughout this Wednesday.
The second victim also died in Tenerife, a woman with a serious previous pathology who was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the University Hospital of the Canary Islands (HUC). The first death, also of a woman, occurred at the Doctor Negrín hospital in Gran Canaria on Friday of last week.
Minister of Health for the Canaries, Teresa Cruz, warned that “coronavirus cases will continue to grow, so we are preparing to meet the growing demand for cases that are occurring, especially on the island of Tenerife.”
However, the Canary Islands present a rate of 6.6 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, the third lowest in Spain.
