All Saints Church News
All Saints Church, a historic building over 125 years old, is well worth a visit. It is situated in the parkland of Parque Taoro, Puerto de la Cruz.A beautiful old English church set in its own picturesque gardens, which just lend themselves to the wedding blessings and baptisms that are held there.
Our Services are as follows: Traditional Holy Communion on a Sunday at 9.30am and a Sung Eucharist at 11am followed by refreshments in the church grounds.Visit our boutique and see the array of new, nearly new or new to you garments to buy . Also our church stall where apart from bric a brac one can buy a momento of a visit to our church. Holy Communion on Wednesdays at 10am is followed by either a lively discussion of a passage from the Bible or a quiet and thought provoking Prayer Meeting, led by our locum priest. An international Taize Service is held on the second and fourth Thursday of the month at 5.30pm.
Jumping back in time, a “Songs of Praise” Service was held in January by our brothers and sisters of our sister church in La Palma who came over to join with us and friends from Tenerife South Church. A truly enjoyable and uplifting service as we all joined together in singing some of our favourite hymns led by Alan Chopping on his guitar. Afterwards, we all partook of a Bring and Share lunch, opefully the first of these .
The next Inter Quiz will be held on Tuesday February 11th at 6pm ( please note time ) in the church grounds, and will be hosted by the British Games Club .Entrance is two euros which is given to charity by the hosting team. If you enjoy quizzes, come along and enjoy the fun.
Our next Car Boot will be on Saturday March 7th in the church grounds, gates open at 11am. These are always hugely popular a great day out ; stalls,refreshments, what more could anyone wish for . All Saints has finally after a very long interregnum had the news of a permanent priest being allocated to our chaplaincy . Reverend Ron Corne will be joining us in March to take his first service on Sunday March 15th. The following Sunday March 22nd the Right Reverend David Hamid will be joining us to licence Reverend Ron. Please come and celebrate this momentous occasion with us all . Reverend Ron was our locum last September so he is no stranger to us all . We wish him every Blessing with his ministry to us all and look forward to welcoming him back to All Saints as our permanent chaplain.
Two vacancies have arisen on our Chaplaincy Church Council, which may appeal to you . Firstly we are in need of a Church Treasurer as this at the moment is falling on our Churchwarden Wendy. Her workload is heavy enough as it is so if you feel you could help with this position and enjoy accounting and are familiar with the Excel computer programme please give Wendy a call, she will be very pleased to hear from you on 922320978/ 605486792. A Safeguarding Officer is also required, as at All Saints we are committed to the safeguarding and care of everyone within our church community. The Safeguarding Officer is the first port of call in any alleged bullying or abuse. You will liase with the Diocese of Europe in London and follow their guidelines, training will be given although experience is preferred. Please phone Wendy on the number above for more info.
