“Silbo” training made available throughout La Gomera
La Gomera’s Cabildo is continuing with its pledge to bring the learning of its historic “whistling” language, Silbo to all corners of the island.
For the third year, a training initiative has been arranged in all six municipalities so that interested residents can learn the technique, guaranteeing its survival.
The registration period is open throughout the month of October.
“Since we launched this project, we have prioritised reaching every corner of the island where they demand training, especially thinking about those people who could not learn in schools,” said Cabildo president, Casimiro Curbelo.
Silbo Gomero is taught by qualified teachers who teach the communication system in its purest form.
Interested parties can find all the information on www.lagomera.es and once the deadline has expired, they will be notified of the day and time set for the training in their place of residence.
Silbo has the designation of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
