Stars of kickboxing and judo honoured 

Granadilla de Abona has honoured a dozen athletes from the municipality, in the kickboxing and judo modalities.

The acting mayor and councillor for sports, Marcos González, received the Grana-da champions and praised them for their sporting achieve-ments during the present year 2019.
In kickboxing, Mar Rodrí-guez, world champion 2019; Elena Gabriela Badea, 14, and Penelope Expósito Oval, 18, two world champions; Jeisson Fermín Paz, world champion Poinfight, and Charlie Hollo-way, world runner-up of pointfight and lightcontact.
In Judo, Noemí Dorta Grillo stands out, silver per team in the women’s absolute category and promotion to 1st division by 2020; Susana Sánchez de Piedad, absolute gold in -52 in the Valencia Super Cup; Francisco José Barrera Crespo M1 (-100) fifth in the European Championship 2019; Ainoa Salazar Ramos, bronze in cadet (-63); Ruiman Table Slim M2 (-90); Juan David Tejera Navarro M3 (-81) and José Manuel Gutiérrez Martín M6 (-100).
Marcos González congra-tulated them on behalf of the municipal corporation and highlighted the commitment of the Granadilla de Abona City Council to the sport. He argued the importance of the practice of sport at any stage of life, and also serves as an example in values such as improvement, effort and motivation among the rest of their teammates and the population of the municipality.
