Las Galletas port beach given the all-clear
The beach at the port in Las Galletas was closed for 24 hours whilst tests were carried out on the water quality.
Bathing was banned on August 21st when the presence of the enterococcus bacteria was found in samples. However, the levels later decreased significantly in the subsequent results until reaching permitted situation.
The ban was lifted at 12.30pm the following day.
“The Health Inspectorate has lifted the ban on bathing at the beach and the Las Galletas pier, today Thursday, at 12.30 pm, after knowing the results of the analysis of water samples, taken this morning, which indicate normal parameters and in perfect condition for bathing,” said a spokesman for Arona council.
“The tests carried out by both the city council technicians and by the health inspectors confirm that the water has the correct values, which guarantees the safety of the users. We are very aware of our coast. For more than four years, we have carried out our own tests every week, through the municipal sanitation company and this helps us quickly detect any incident. ”
