The Big Blue wins tenth deep sea fishing tournament
The Big Blue boat, moored in Fuerteventura, was the winner of the tenth edition of the Cicar Amarilla Marina deep sea fishing tournament, which took place on August 2 and 3 at the Marina San Miguel in Tenerife, with 20 boats participating.
The Big Blue, whose owner is Markus, managed to catch a tuna of about 70 kilos, while the second classified, the Royal Garden Villas boat, with a port in Tenerife and owner Carlos Cabr, managed to catch a tuna of 66 kilos; and the third classified was the Maurilia boat, also from Tenerife, with the capture of a 15 kilos dorado.
The Cicar Amarilla Marina Tournament, in its capture and release modality, aims to promote a sport of respect and conservation of wildlife since all the marlins are sighted, photographed and returned to the sea.
Marina San Miguel is the only marina in Tenerife capable of hosting an event of this nature thanks to its extensive facilities, which can cover a significant number of ships, and for its strategic location within the influence of trade winds and near the west of Tenerife where the water is usually calm, an hour and a half from La Gomera and three from Gran Canaria, which allows fishing opportunities to open up a lot.
The winners received a first prize of 3,000 euros plus sport fishing equipment for the winning team and a second prize of 1,500 euros and also sport fishing equipment. The Junior Prize, which is awarded to the person under 18 who manages a capture, was taken by the Big Blue while the interprovincial challenge was achieved by the ship Marlin, whose owner is Juan José Farray.
This event is promoted by Cicar and Amarilla Marina and is sponsored, among others, by Dorada; Coca Cola; Pesquera y Navales Tenerife, SL, Hotel and Apartments Aguamarina Golf; Daemen Yacht Services; Canary Islands Multináutica Yanmar; Pineda Sports; Elyman; La Marina S.
