TEA invites entries for Fotonoviembre
TEA Tenerife Espacio de las Artes has announced the VIII Informative and Documentary Photography Contest of Fotonoviembre.
Organised through the Tenerife Island Photography Center, this year will see 3,900 euros in four prizes. This contest, which was created in 2005 with the aim of drawing attention to documentary photography as an instrument of social communication and a means to disseminate Canarian news among society in general, is part of the celebration of the XV International Biennial of Photography November.
The call for this eighth edition is open to the participation of all those people, of any nationality, residents of the Canarian community, who present work done during the last two years related to some aspect of social, economic, political, sports or of the archipelago and that may have been made in the Canary Islands or abroad.
Those interested in participating have until September 18th to send their work, which they must send in digital format to email@example.com. The contest establishes two modalities: that of series (a maximum of two series of between three and ten photographs may be submitted and the photographs presented under this modality may not be eligible for the individual modality) and that of individual photography (they may be submit a maximum of three photographs).
The prizes are one of 1,500 euros for the first prize of the best photographic series, another of 1,000 euros for the second prize of the best photographic series, another of 800 euros for the first prize of individual photography, and one 600 euros for the second prize for individual photo-graphy. In addition to this, the selected photographs and the winners will be part of an exhibition that will take place between November and December in the framework of Fotonoviembre 2019. Fotonoviembre 2019 will be held in different spaces throughout the Island from the beginning of November to February 2020. It is one of the pioneer photographic festivals in Spain and Europe and has been performing continuously in biannual format since 1991, opening a space of reflection and study of the image around exhibitions, debates and workshops in which both creators and local and foreign curators participate.
