Magic night of history to be hosted in La Laguna
La Laguna is to play an active part in the programme of cultural events of the World Heritage Cities.
A meeting in Madrid was attended by the municipality’s councillor for culture and heritage, Yaiza López.
A new calendar of cultural, educational and sporting events for autumn of this year and for 2020 will see celebrations at the 15 member cities.
The first great cultural event will be ‘La Noche del Patrimonio’, on September 21st, an event that this year reaches its second edition as a new successful cultural and tourist product in Spain with a very ambitious and simul-taneous programme in the 15 locations. The shows will feature contemporary dance in monumental spaces. In addition, each city will open heritage spaces that night and numerous complementary cultural activities will be offered in the historical centres within the sections ‘Open Heritage and Live Heritage’, which will turn the third Saturday of September into a magical night.
In addition to this event, the VII Chamber Music Cycle will be held from March 2020. For six years, thanks to the relationship with the Reina Sofía Higher School of Music, the Group has taken chamber music concerts to its cities, performed by the young talents that are formed in this centre, considered one of the best in the world. Nearly 20,000 people have been able to enjoy this series of top-level concerts throughout these six years, in unique spaces such as cathedrals, churches, palaces, museums, monasteries and other historic buildings converted into modern and functional auditoriums.
The commission has also agreed to convene in the month of October the VII edition of ‘Heritage Classroom’, a programme in which nearly 8,000 schoolchildren have participated in the last four years.
