La Orotava night race proves a great spectacle of sport
Fran Cabrera Galindo and Irene Lorenzo climbed to the top of the podium of the ninth edition of the 8km Night Race La Orotava Vitaldent Tenerife but all the contestants were hailed as winners.
The event was once again a great festival of inclusive, equal and solidarity sport with the special participation of prominent local athletes such as Ayoze Pérez or the Guinness Record holder on an exercise bike, Miguel Ángel Castro, who pushed cars of different adapted riders .
Cabrera Galindo flew again over the hard circuit that ran through the most emblematic streets of the majestic old town of La Orotava. The Gran Canarian athlete triumphed by stopping the watch in a stratospheric time of 26 minutes and 10 seconds, at an average of 3:16 a kilometre.
Behind him was a hard battle to reach the other two steps of the podium that finally went to Saúl Castro (28:40) and Pedro Rodríguez (28:42) who were a little faster on arrival than Antonio Martín (28: Four. Five).
Among the girls the fastest was Irene Lorenzo (34:29) and from behind came Estefanía Luis (36:16) as second classified and Miriam Gambín (36:51) to close the test podium.
Antonio Müller was the fastest in the adapted race where there was a great turnout. The members of the Sevillian club Carros de Fuego enjoyed this ninth edition as guests and soaked in the spectacular atmosphere of a race that is already looking ahead a very special event, its tenth anniversary to be celebrated in 2020.
