La Laguna looks to expand new Parkinson centre open soon
La Laguna council will study the possibility of expanding the facilities of the new centre for people with Parkinson that will open its doors in the coming months in the Geneto area.
First deputy mayor and head of social welfare and quality of life, Rubens Ascanio, together with finance coun-cillor, Alejandro Marrero visited the facilities with the director of the Parkinson’s Association of Tenerife, Nuria Campos.
The centere is located in municipal facilities and is part of a project promoted by the Association. Its implemen-tation will allow the muni-cipality to become a reference within the archipelago in the care and services provided to people suffering from this type of degenerative disease that affects some 4,000 people throughout the Canary Islands.
Rubens Ascanio said: “This centre will take advantage of a space that was in disuse and that, through the financing of the Institute of Social and Social Care (IASS) of the Cabildo de Tenerife, has been able to develop a project that will be more than beneficial for people suffering from this pathology ”.
He praised the work that the Parkinson Association of Tenerife in recent years and said that its objective is “to continue strengthening the collaboration that the council maintains with it to serve people and families living this problem. “
Sr. Marrero stressed that the expansion of the facilities and services of the centre will be studied in order to enhance the current project, in line with the objective of the new municipal government to work and find solutions to provide the best care to citizens.
