Culture chiefs back audiovisual projects

The Canary Islands Government, through its General Directorate of Cultural Promotion, has resolved to support a total of 21 new audiovisual projects presented by companies on the islands.

The selection has been carried out by an external committee of experts appoint-ed for this purpose, to which 95 proposals were submitted. The resolution, still of a provisional nature, includes aid for the production of six cinemato-graphic films and television series, and eight short films, as well as seven other projects under development.
The resolution has been published by the Ministry of Education, Universities, Culture and Sports and is available for consultation at www.gobier-nodecanarias.org/cultura. The deadline to accept the subsidies has been established in ten business days, which end on September 2.
These projects have been valued by an external committee composed of professionals of recognised prestige.
Points were awarded based on the number and importance of the Canarian personnel hired for the project, the presence of women in key positions, the history of the artistic and technical teams, and the secured financing.
