Canaries relay gay friendly message in Germany
The Canary Islands are being promoted as a gay friendly destination.
Tourism chiefs were present at the recent CSD Berlin Pride held in the German capital and attended by more than 800,000 people. This event, in addition to the high participation of the LGTB collective, also has a wide media impact, making it an interesting showcase for the Canary Islands as a gay-friendly destination.
Minister of Tourism, Industry and Commerce, Yaiza Castilla said: “The Canary Islands is an attractive destination for those tourists whose main motivation is to enjoy their vacations, in a place that offers multiple attractions that we have in the islands where, in addition of the good weather and a wide com-plementary offer. This action, within the framework of the Berlin Pride, allows us to transmit an image of an inclusive destination, as a competitive and qualitative advantage, against competing destinations in the eastern Mediterranean. ”
The presence of the Canary Islands in the Berlin Pride responds to the objective of customer diversification set in the marketing plan, in a key market for the islands such as Germany. The LGTB segment relies on a specific commu-nication platform aimed at this group, www.sacatusvacacion-esdelarmario.com, which includes materials and content of interest.
