Women’s soccer takes Adeje by storm as well 

Women’s football, which has taken the nation by storm thanks to the recent World Cup, is now on its way to south Tenerife.

The second edition of the Costa Adeje Cup Women’s Football Tournament will take place on July 19th and 20th.
The draw is as follows: Group A: first match between C.F Lanzarote and U.D Moneyba, second match between the U.D. Tacuense and the R.C.D Nueva Sevilla and the third match for the players of A.T. Perdona against Gomera F.C. In Group B, the first match will be played between C.F. Costa Adeje and A.T Valle, the second match will be between Santa Sur F.C and C.D. Virgen del Rocío, and finally C.D. Firgas against Blue Team United.
Adeje councillor Adolfo Alonso said: “This is one more opportunity to make women’s sport visible. There is a lot of talent that we should recognise and this is a good opportunity to do so. This initiative is in addition to many others that we develop from the council on gender equality, in this case linked to sport. “
The tournament will start on Thursday, July 18th with the presence of all teams and the delivery of credentials at 5pm at Siam Mall but matches will begin on Friday, July 19th and Saturday, July 20th throughout the day. Each team will play between four or five matches with a duration of 30 minutes for each football 7 game.
In the Canary Islands, there are a large number of women’s teams of different sports and Tenerife has a high number of women dedicated to sport as well as amateur and federated.
