Get set for the wooden carts race in San Juan de la Rambla!
Preparations are being made for a highly unusual wooden cart race in San Juan de la Rambla.
The local council’s sports department has opened the registration period to participate in the fourth edition of the “Santa Rosalía traditional wooden carriage descent”, a curious race of cars made in an artisanal way.
It has a double objective. On the one hand, to start the festivities in honour of Santa Rosalia in the district of Las Rosas and on the , to recover the tradition of the area to celebrate these unique races of vehicles without engines which has become a tradition since the middle of the last century and always attracts a huge number of participants and supporters,
Registration is completely free, the only requirement is to participate with a car that has been made by hand and that does not have any type of motor impulse. Enrollees can participate in the categories: Group A, Group B, Skeleton, Traditional and Pneumatic Category. In the case of children, they must accompany their registration with parental authorisation.
All the information and the formalisation of requests to participate can be done in the offices of Culture and San Juan. The term is open until August 31th.
The test maintains the form of previous years. Scheduled for Sunday September 2nd from 10am in the morning, the one kilometre route is through calle José Manuel Rodríguez Amador, in a circuit with a descent in which you can reach 50 kilometres per hour.
The circuit will be done through the installation of chicanes. The council also plans to reinforce security throughout the day.
Thee fourth edition of the traditional wooden car race is developed in collaboration with the Festival Commission in honour of Santa Rosalía, the Club Vivir Cuesta Abajo, Infinite Adrenalina Sports Club and the Enriskate G. C. Sports Club.
