Gastronomic route and April fair have avocado as the star 

The avocado is taking centre-stage in La Orotava and there are opportunities to taste how it can be enjoyed in wonderful dishes.

Eighteen establishments have been taking part in a tapas route in which the avocado is the star and this continues until March 23rd.

To follow, on April 20th there will be an Avocado Fair, the first of its kind to be held in Tenerife, with the Plaza de la Constitución being the venue for the afternoon event.

The gastronomic route proving a great success is the second one held under the umbrella of Saborea La Orotava. The 18 restaurants, bars and cafes have produced extraordinary dishes featuring avocado as the main ingredient.

“Because of its flavour, its variety and its versatility, it allows the chef to create a wide variety of dishes, providing quality levels and superlative flavours,” one of the organisers explained.

Savoury and sweet dishes are on offer for 2.50 euros (does not include a drink).

Customers will help to choose the best three dishes and the winning establishments will be part of the Avocado Fair. Those who fill in the score cards at six restaurants or more will also be entered into a prize raffle.

The events are designed to introduce more residents and visitors to local gastronomy, to boost economic activity and to show people the delights historic La Orotava has to offer.
