New five kilometre distance adds to appeal of Half Marathon 

The already hugely-popular Las Galletas Half Marathon is expanding its appeal even further.

Registrations have opened for the 2018 event which, for the first time, will encompass a new distance of five kilometres.

The event is on Sunday, April 8th and those interested can go to the web (medio-maratonlasgalletas.com) or the Municipal Sports Pavilion of Los Cristianos to register. The closing date for entries is April 4th.

The day prior to the competition, on Saturday, April 7th from 10am to 8pm, the Plaza de Las Galletas will host the now traditional Sports Fair.

This will be the XXII edition of the Half Marathon and another great turnout is expected, both from runners and spectators who line the route.

The prices, in the period of pre-enrollment from January 15th to March 25th, for federated athletes or with a “corredor plus” card in the distance of km is five euros on that of 10.8km, ten euros. For the 21km test. the fee is fifteen euros. For the rest of the participants the cost will be the same amount for the one of 5km, 13€ for the 10.8 km. and 18€ for the distance of 21 km. After this period (from 26/3 to 4/4) the price for the distance of 5 Km is 10€. For the route of 10.8 km, federated and with “runners plus” card, it will be 17€ and for the distance of 21km from 22€, while for the rest of the runners it is 10€ for those who run at 5 Km, 20€ for the average distance and 25€ for the longer route

The total route of the test will run along the TF 6222, TF 6225 and TF 6221 roads in Las Galletas and will be closed to traffic. The test will be controlled by the Committee of Judges of the Canary Athletics Federation.

Numbers and treat bags can be collected the day before the test, when the sporty day will see activities such as aerobics, zumba exhibitions, etc together with an exhibition of sports equipment and services and where the youngest will play their own athletic competi-tions.
