Accolade for olive oil production 

Guia de Isora has placed itself on the internationa map for olive oil production.

Farmer José Carlos Acevedo who started to diversify 12 years ago has recently obtained the Oliva de Oro award in a competition organised by Tenerife Cabildo.

He produced his first batch of oil in 2008 , just 15 litres but of “exquisite taste”. In the last harvest, they collected 3,000 kilos of olives that were transformed into 300 litres of oil.

Last December, they received the Oliva de Oro award granted by the Cabildo. According to Sr. Acevedo, “we were very close to achieving the Great Golden Olive Award, but for this we must comply with some bureaucratic procedures that are required for that category. We are going to continue advancing in the learning and in the commercialisation, and we hope to be able to export and compete in other categories to carry around the world the name of the first isorano oil.”

Among the projects for the future is to build an oil mill to be able to carry out the entire process in Guía de Isora.
