Puerto offers students unique opportunity in pioneering scheme
Puerto de la Cruz has launched a pioneering new programme to create leaders for the future.
Jorge Amador Monteverde, responsible for the Programme in the European Space Agency (ESA), will teach leadership, innovation and creativity to 15 young people of the municipality.
The LINC-S Project will provide training to young people aged between 16 and 18 years old with the intention of acquiring such knowledge and skills before entering university education and the world of work.
Between October and November, the project was presented to first and second year high school students of the three Secondary Education Institutes of the municipality. Youth councillor Ruymán García said they had been surprised at the excellent response.
More than 100 students have wanted to pre-register to take on the challenge. Candidates will have to “demonstrate their motivation to complete the course and its potential to achieve its objectives”. The tests consist of giving “response to a challenge in a two minute video format, a letter of motivation written by them, as well as a personal interview, whose term ends on December 22nd.
Fifteen people will be selected and the course will last three months, from January to March 2018, and will be held every Saturday at the Youth House.
