Quick-thinking Nicole, 10, praised by Acción del Sol

Nicole Wells was out walking her nan’s dog in Parque de La Arena a couple of weeks ago when as she passed the local rubbish and discovered a box of puppies dumped by some callous person.

Nicole who is only 10 struggled back to her nan carrying the box of puppies. Thanks to them following the correct procedure the Police and protection civil collected the puppies and they were brought directly to Accion Del Sol refuge. The puppies arrived in a very bad state full of ticks and fleas so we immediately took them to our admittance area where they were washed to avoid spreading anything to the rest of the dogs at the refuge. We would like to say a very special thank you to Nicole for her kindness and quick thinking to help these little puppies. At a later date we would like to invite Nicole to the refuge as she would like to see the puppies and have an update on their care. We hope once they are fully innoculated, microchipped, castrated /sterilised and have a clean bill of health that we are able to find them special homes.

Heat alert

We would again like to remind you all about keeping your dogs well hydrated with lots of cool water, plenty of shade and remembering the heat of the pavements so ideally it’s best to avoid walking your dogs during the hottest parts of the day.

School term

We are busy preparing for the next school term where once again we will commence our educational programme. With more and more schools participaring, we do hope to improve the well being and care of dogs on the island.

Break over
