Puerto faces busy July with fiesta fun
July is always an important month for Puerto de la Cruz as it celebrates its patronal fiesta.
This month sees more than 100 activities, with the boat as the protagonist. The festivities are in honour of Gran Poder de Dios, Nuestra Señora la Virgen del Carmen and San Telmo.
Councillor for fiestas Ruymán García said the packed programme included religious and playful events, a tradition that “runs through our veins.”
The festivities actually started at the end of June but are now in full swing, with highlights having included the Holi Festival, selection of the Queen of the fiestas and the arrival of the image of the Virgin of Carmen at the port.
The full programme is available in Puerto de la Cruz town hall and other locationsm as well as on the council’s website and fiesta’s Facebook page.
It is hoped to bring in tourists from all parts of the island and beyond.
