Countdown for Canary films at MiradasDoc 2017
Juan Gopar, María Sanz and Mercedes Afonso are joining the judging panel in the eleventh edition of MiradasDoc, the popular Canary film festival held in Guia de Isora.
The programme runs from January 27th to February 4th, with the Canary films taking the spotlight on January 31st.
Juan Gopar is an artist specialising in plastics whilst María Sanz is a producer and Mercedes Afonso a film-maker.
Nine Canary documentaries have been shortlisted from a total submission of 31, representing a record-breaking figure. They will be shown on January 31st in the afternoon in the main auditorium hall of Guia de Isora.
The Canary films, just one part of the festival, have a variety of subjects and are set in diverse locations, including El Hierro.
The event is seen as a major stepping stone for film producers and gives the chance for new talent to be spotted.
Other documentaries will be competing for top prizes and there are associated events on the full programme, including workshops.
