Coming soon, better internet for Granadilla
The Mayor of Granadilla de Abona, José Domingo Regalado González and councillor for Innovation of Tenerife Cabildo, Antonio García Marichal, held a meeting to address improvements to the internet connection service in the municipality and the arrival of fibre optics throughout 2017.
The developments were described as “very good news” by the Mayor, including for businesses on the industrial estate.
“It will offer a more efficient, economic and high speed service according to the demand,” said the Mayor.
Sr. Marichal reported on the connection opportunities and benefits of this island ring for the municipality.
In this sense, he explained that the Cabildo has launched an investment plan in the municipalities during 2016-2017, through which it will invest some five million euros in the so-called island ring of telecommunications, north this year, and then proceed to the connection with the other municipalities.
Once the island’s telecommunications network is up and running, the opportunity opens up for telephone companies to offer broadband service to the population centres.
The municipal and insular authorities also raised the possibility that the municipality can host events related to dissemination, communication and technologies and new trends such as the Lan Party.
