Wine day proves a huge success in Las Galletas
A new event at the port of Las Galletas attracted more than 3,000 people who enjoyed a day and evening of wine, food and associated attractions.
Arona council says it is delighted with the success of “‘Vino a babor” which attracted local people and tourists alike to the seafront location.
Visitor were able to taste the wine of five wineries in the southern region at the picturesque Marina del Sur.
This first-time initiative was complemented by gastronomy, workshops, crafts, make-up, cocktails and live music.
Cristina Iglesias, Head of Promotion, Marketing and Communication for Marina del Sur, expressed her satisfaction at the great welcome that the opening of this initiative had and thanked the involvement of all the institutions and companies that opted for this pioneering activity in Tenerife.
This type of event, she said, “contributes, among other things, to the promotion of the great wines from the south of the island, the typical culinary products of the Canary Islands and the creations of island craftsmen.”
The day began at noon with a children’s workshop which introduced the youngsters to cooking, and went on until 10pm with a dozen activities and 20 stands along the marina path.
There was freshly cut ham, various tapas, grilled sardines and the wines.
“Vino a babor” was sponsored by the Tourist Board of the City of Arona, El Torito Grill, Regulatory Council of DO Abona, CIT of the South, Taste Tenerife and Tenerife Tourism. Also participating in the event were the Barman’s Association of Tenerife and the Open Commercial Zone of Las Galletas.
