Well done medical staff
As regular visitors to Tenerife, we thought we would write a note of praise following medical care my husband received.
It was nothing serious but we have to say the doctor and the staff at the medical centre in Golf del Sur were excellent. It is the one which is on your left hand side as you drive into the Golf, a round-shaped building with a chemist upstairs and doctors’ rooms downstairs.
It all stemmed from a spell of sunbathing. My husband fell asleep in the sun so missed putting on another batch of cream. When he woke up, his chest was bright red and he felt awful.
Luckily, we had health insurance so we went along to the centre and were treated by a Spanish lady doctor who spoke English.
He was put on a drip for a short while, had soothing cream applied, was given tablets and an injection in a delicate place!
I suppose some would say this was excessive, who knows, but it only cost us the excess fee of 50 euros plus 12 euro for some cream and we think saved my husband from having a few days of his holiday ruined by sunburn.
So thank you to the staff there. Also a warning to others. Make sure you have health insurance and watch the Tenerife sun. Even if it is cloudy, it is very deceiving.
