I read recently that big advertising signs alongside the motorways here in Tenerife were to be removed.
What a good idea but has it happened? In fact, will it?
I do agree that these signs are a distraction to motorists. After all, what are they there for in the first place if not to attract attention?
No-one could argue that they are placed alongside roads to catch people’s attention and when you think about it, that is pretty daft isn’t it?
If you are driving, you need to be aware of what is happening around you and not looking at adverts. OK so there might be other people in the car but if they remark on them, perhaps a new restaurant or something, then it would take great willpower by the driver NOT to look as well.
If the ads are only aimed at people in buses, then that negates the cost of them doesn’t it?
If you take these down then where do you put them? Nowhere is probably the answer but whose pocket will that hurt?
