Tweets from 1-1-2 to ensure public safety at Carnival time

Carnival time is sweeping the Canaries and the 1-1-2 emergecy team want to make sure everyone stays safe.

Following the success of a campaign last year, the service is repeating its “Risk 0” alert which involves regular tips on Twitter.

A major part of the message, however, is NOT to tweet if you find yourself in an emergency. Here in the Canaries, you phone 112 which is a multi-national line.

Throughout carnival time, the service will be posting regular information and advice tweets on @ 112canarias so that those who go to the events can enjoy themselves to the full.

Tweets are published under the hashtags of #Riesgo0 and #Carnaval2016 during the time up to February 14th which coincides with most of the main carnival events across the islands. The 112 Twitter account has more than 108,000 followers.

The campaign includes simple tips, easy to implement, in order to avoid possible risks and advice on how to deal with various situations.

The “Risk 0” campaign is carried out at different times of the year when there are large public gatherings such as during Easter, at Christmas or in the summer.
