Gran Canaria Wind Orchestra to open second season
After its highly successful debut season, the Gran Canaria Wind Orchestra is returning to the Auditorio Alfredo Kraus on February 28th.
They will be under the direction of David Fiuza Souto, who began his musical studies when just 12 years of age, and will be interpreting the repertoire “Europe: tradition and modernity”.
The orchestra was founded with the aim of interacting the past with the present and “providing a sonic spectacle that leaves no-one indifferent”.
Quality is also the key though works for the huge orchestras are not often chosen. Therefore, for this occasion, they will perform pieces by Camilo de Nardis, Percy Grainger, Boris Kozhevnikov, Johan de Meij and Oliver Waespi.
The first part of the concert features a selection of top works of the classical repertoire of band, in which the essence of European tradition is reflected, which contrasts with the second half showing modernism, while maintaining the basis of the tradition roots.
Tickets are available from various channels, including www.auditorioteatrolaspalmasgc.es, www.auditorio-alfredokraus.com and www.entradas.com, and on 902 488 488.
