Man stole church collections
A man has been arrested in La Orotava after going on a mini crimewave.
He is accused of 18 robberies in the area, including breaking in to an old people’s home, a super-market, private houses, a bakery, pharmacy and several churches.
The man, aged 32 and living locally, stole items such as cash, cigarettes and drinks but also targetted charity collection boxes and a lottery ticket for the next big Christmas draw. In the churches, he ransacked donation boxes.
Police set up checkpoints and undercover vigilance and caught the man just after he raided a supermarket and was returning home.
