La Orotava to fight for more jobs
La Orotava is to work on a new project to try and alleviate unemployment in the municipality.
The council would like an action plan to be in force by the end of the year if at all possible although this aim might not be met.
The idea is to draw up a number of policies to help people back into jobs and especially the long-term unemployed, the young and those aged over 55.
It is hoped to reform a jobs’ bank to provide all the latest information on vacancies and to organise training courses and workshops.
The municipality registered its greatest number of unemployed in May of 2013 and that number has been declining ever since to around 5,278.
The council says it wants to continue to boost the local economy in ways which create jobs and generate wealth.
