Head for El Rosario and follow the mushroom tapas route
Wining and dining on Tenerife is all about finding new gastronomic experiences and a trip out to El Rosario in the north will provide just that!
The municipality is running the third edition of its increasingly popular ” Ruta de la Tapa de Setas y Hongos” which concentrate on the starring ingredient of mushrooms.
The organisers have already held a conference and a mushroom hunting day so that people know exactly which mushrooms they can eat and avoid being poisoned!
On this occasion, 16 establishment are taking part in the tapas route which is an increase of four on last year.
The whole event began on October 30th and continues until November 30th so you still have plenty of time to plan a visit. The dishes will be available in all the esta-blishments definitely on a Thursday, Friday and Saturday but also on other days of the week if the particular restaurant or bar can manage it.
The event is being orga-nised by the local council, Association of Small and Medium Businesses from El Rosario (Apymeer), the Association of Friends of the Mushrooms of Tenerife and the organisation Campamento Quimpi.
El Rosario hopes the route will very much put it on the island map for anyone who just loves mushrooms!
The pubs, bars and restaurants taking art are offering a specific dish where one or more of the ingredients is mushroom; the remainder of the ingredients are their choice. Each dish will be sold at the price of 2.5 euros and will include a drink (can, local wine, water or soft drink).
For the first time, this edition will feature a prize for the best dish and the winner will receive 150 euros, courtesy of Apymeer.
The winner will be chosen by popular vote of all those taking part in the route who can pick up a road book or download it to their mobile.
Anyone who visits sx establishments and votes for their favourite dish will also be entered into a drawn to win a prize. The first is a free course in apnea from the Free Diving Blue Mind in Radazul and a gift valued at 80 euros from Boutique Fabio whilst the other is dinner for two at the winning restaurant and a gift valued at 40 euros from Bazar Dácil.
The establishments taking part are “Bar Mocán”, “Casa Manolo”, “Los Llanos de Porcuna”, “Las Haciendas”, tasca “La Bellota”, bar “La Esperanza”, bar “Casa Enrique”, “La Vista”, bar “Los Teques”, restaurante “El Espinazo”, bar “El Perenquén”, restaurante “Las Rosas”, arepera “El Zarzal”, bar “Casa Berta”, “Corralito Cho Juan de Malia” and “La Morra”.
All of them are located in the upper area of ??the municipality, including La Esperanza, Llano del Moro and Las Rosas, and are clearly identified to make sure the route can easily be followed. You will spot a poster at each and there will be a container for you to put your vote in.
El Rosario is one of the municipalities of Tenerife which has unique growing conditions for the mushroom, because of its soil and climate.
