Fantastic response to new workshops in Guía de Isora
A new series of workshops and courses in Guía de Isora has now started for the 2015-2016 season and the local council is delighted with the response so far.
They say it is not unusual to see three generations of the same family taking advantage of what is on offer, ranging from traditional Canary dan-ce to chess and singing.
The Municipal School of Leisure and Recreation offers 21 workshops spread across 50 groups.
This is the 20th edition and already, about 1,000 students have enrolled. The courses are spread over eight areas of the municipality, namely Guía centre, Alcalá, Playa San Juan, Chío, Cueva del Polvo, Piedra Hincada and Chiguergue.
They all run for eight months from October through to June and feature pilates, English, dance, patchwork, painting, yoga, Latin rhythms, Canary dancing, rope and singing, costumes, openwork, rhyth-mic gymnastics, basketball, skating, kung fu, gymnastics, aerobics, football, chess, multisport and theatre.
Five other courses will take place from February to June 2016, including sewing and DIY. For these, all those interested should call in at the Town Hall to sign up.
