Time clock ticks down to 60th Tenerife Cycle Ride

The 60th Vuelta Ciclista Isla de Tenerife is to be held between September 4th and 6th, it has been announced.

Eight teams will take part in this regional test which for the first time will incorporate a team time trial and a stage in Vilaflor.

This is one of the most anticiapted sporting events of the annual calendar in the Canaries and is organised by La Laguna council and the Tenerife Cycling Federation.

All of the teams are from the Canaries and will dispute three stages, as before. One of them will visit Vilaflor for the first time.

The first time trial stage covers seven kilometres between the coastal areas of Valle Guerra and Tejina. The second phase on the Saturday is the marathon 87 kilometres in which the classic journey goes through the roads of the south of the island to reach Vilaflor.

The third and final day of the competition starts and finishes in the Plaza de la Concepción of La Laguna and covers 62 kilometres in mostly the municipalities of the north of Tenerife between San Cristóbal de La Laguna and Los Realejos.

Last year’s race was won by Marcos García in a final time of 6h36m38s.
