Sophie combines art and music for Bimbache Festival

El Hierro will welcome internationally acclaimed singer Sophie Dunér to the Bimbache open art Festival this August.

Sophie will perform with celebrated guitarist Torsten de Winkel on August 13th.

Her performance will mix new songs which she has been touring with in Sweden and the US and a preview of some of the tracks on her forthcoming album, which is being recorded throughout July in Boston.

A singer, songwriter and artist, her versatility shines through in her unique performances which incorporate both music and visual art. As well as performing, Sophie’s art will be the subject of a week-long exhibition at the festival, running from the 8th to the 15th August.

Speaking ahead of the festival, Sophie said: “It is amazing to have the opportunity to present both my music and art in such a beautiful setting and such an artistically colourful and dynamic environment of world music and jazz”.

Born in Sweden, Sophie developed her musical style when she studied in the US. While the rots of her music are in jazz, she takes influence form classical and world music. Her 2013 album The City of My Soul was one of Parma Records’ top releases for digital sales in February 2015. It was recorded by iconic recording producer Michael Haas. The Bimbache Open Art Festival runs from 3rd to the 23rd August 2015. It brings together musicians, artists, politicians and members of leading charities to meet and share ideas. The festival is dedicated to sustainable ecological, technological and socio-cultural development.
