Open shopping zones the future for La Gomera
La Gomera is betting on the creation of new open zones to encourage shoppers to the island and more jobs.
The finishing touches are currently being put to a scheme in San Sebastian which should be complete by the end of August.
A similar project is already up and running in Valle Gran Rey where traders say they are already feeling the benefit of increased business and visitor numbers.
The Cabildo would like to see a network of Open Trade Zones across the island and is investing more than ten million euros.
Councillor for commerce, Emiliano Coello said such initiatives were vital for the future of La Gomera to present more dynamic activity and promote tourism.
A blueprint has been drawn up for future plans but the Cabildo is calling on the Canary Government to do all it can to help.
