Tegueste market celebrates milestone birthday
Tegueste market, the only one in the Canary Islands to have the ISO-UNE 9001:2008 quality standard, is inviting local people and visitors to join them this July.
It is now eleven years since the Farmers’ and Artisans’ Market was founded and birthday celebrations include children’s workshops, raffles, live cooking demonstrations and musical performances amongst others.
The original idea of 2004 was to create a market where local people could sell and buy fresh produce grown in the area as a boost to the primary sector which was going through very tough times.
Since then, the market has gone from strength to strength and has had its prestigious quality standard since 2011.
Another huge success has been the introduction of its comprehensive web site which saw a growth of 28.53 per cent over the last year. Facilities are also being constantly updated.
