Capital calls for progress on port tunnel
Santa Cruz is calling for more action on its plan to open up the city to the sea.
The city council and the Port Authority are joining forces to press the Canary Government for action on a long-awaited port tunnel.
The Mayor, José Manuel Bermúdez said this was essential for the future of Santa Cruz, both for jobs and for uniting the capital with the sea.
The Mayor met with Port Authority provincial president, Pedro Rodríguez Zaragoza and described the relationship between the two bodies as “extraordinary”.
They reviewed progress made on recent projects but both agreed the port access tunnel had to be the next priority.
Also discussed were future arrangements for attracting megayachts to the port.
