Gofio champion is hailed by Granadilla council
Granadilla council has honoured Juan Manuel Casanova of Molino de Gofio for helping to conserve and recover one of the island’s best known traditions.
The artisan was honoured during the Canary Craft Fair which celebrated its 28th edition in the plaza González Mena and on the patio of the old Francisan convent. The event was part of the San Antonio de Padua festivities.
The craft fair featured 30 different stands with pottery, glass, cakes, honey, mojo sauces, traditional costumes, soaps, liqours and toys to name just a few.
Culture councillor, Óscar Delgado Melo highlighted the work of Juan Manuel Casanova in preserving the traditional Canary product of gofio.
The historic mill is located in plaza de San Pedro and dates back to 1912.
