Council seeks new look for Los Cristianos shopping
Arona Council says it wants to bring a fresh look to the shopping areas of Los Cristianos to increase competitiveness.
A meeting has already been held with traders to discuss various ideas and members of the public will shortly be invited to give their own suggestions.
The council has not yet released full details of any proposals to the press.
Councillor for economic development, Marcos Afonso Esquivel chaired the meeting with business representatives with the aim of presenting a document being called “Study of Enhancement of the Urban Commercial Image.”
Similar documents have been presented in relation to Las Galletas and Valle San Lorenzo to include “anaylisis, diagnosis and proposals for action” in the short and medium term. The council hopes to tackle other areas of Arona as well.
The councillor said the objective was to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the commercial areas of the municipality and use that information to increase competitiveness. It was, he said, necessary to adapt to the demands of today’s consumers who were looking for new shopping experiences.
The council has stressed the document is not a “closed” one and input will be sought from the public.
Grants will also be sought for any improvements, together with external funding.
