Island’s motor circuit project goes to Vienna

Tenerife has been promoting the attractions of the island in Vienna for motor racing, promotions, training and winter camps.

The ambitious project to construct and run its first-ever Tenerife Circuit is currently out to tender, with bids invited by February 3rd, 2015.

There have been a number of expressions of interest and in Austria, the Cabildo presented the benefits of getting involved to representatives of leading organisations and businesses, including the country’s Automobile Club, TUW Racing, the Chamber of Commerce and the country’s largest construction company, STRABAG.

Details of the tender and investment were explained, together with the attractions and advantages the island could offer to entrepreneurs. Also stressed was the potential for sports teams for training or tuning especially during the winter and for car or motor companies to perform tests and presentations of new models.

The new motor circuit would encompass an area of 1,268,694 square metres and would be the only European track operational 365 days a year. The site is situated near the Tenerife south airport.
