French hiker breaks leg
A 48-year-old hiker had to be rescued by the emergency helicopter after falling in a rocky area of Lanzarote.
The incident happened in Caldera Blanca in the municipality of Tinajo and led to a call to the 1-1-2 control centre who alerted the police and rescue services, including the fire brigade.
The location was difficult to access so the emergency helicopter was used to pick up the injured man, a French tourist, who had broken his leg.
He was taken to the airport base and then transported by ambulance to hospital. Medics said his leg injury was of a less serious nature.
