High places for Tegueste’s name 

A young athlete from Tegueste has been congratulated by the Mayor following the best sporting day of his career.

David Cortijo produced a shining performance in the Spanish junior championships for track events held in San Sebastián in the Basque country. The talented high jumper took the gold medal, breaking his previous records when he conquered 2.07 metres.

Tegueste’s Mayor, José Manuel Molina congratulated David on his latest success and for carrying the name of the town to high levels.

Sr. Molina said the youth of the municipality were excelling in sport and the council was pleased to be working with them to provide facilities and the means to carry on their careers.

David is a member of team Tenerife CajaCanarias.
