Thumbs up for marinas
I don’t really understand why the construction of marinas in Tenerife is such a contentious issue. In fact, isn’t it the way forward for the island?
I note that in recent editions, you have reported on plans for a new marina near La Caleta in the south and also now in Los Gigantes, in addition to the sports marina plan for Puerto de la Cruz and for Santa Cruz too.
I am not sure why people are so against some of these plans? Surely, it would be lovely to have a marina on your doorstep and to see more people coming in to places and bringing much-needed trade for bars, restaurants etc. Surely if you choose to live in a place like La Caleta or Los Gigantes, you know it is a tourist place. If you want somewhere quiet, then you go elsewhere.
These places have only been relatively quiet because of the recession and they are bound to get busier.
By their very nature, marinas are going to be used by a nice group of people as it isn’t cheap to run a boat. They are unlikely to be noisy or not respective of the environment.
I think it would be great to see a whole succession of marinas up and down the coastline as a way forward for Tenerife. Don’t put this island in mothballs!
